People Are Brown is a response to a racism so endemic in our society that it is found in young children. We are taught to draw lines between us on the color spectrum. In People Are Brown, we explore color as it relates to the human skin and the beauty of nature. Potentially negative concepts about color become positively charged as the concept of race is revealed in the light of truth. The idea of race is immaterial when the human reality is clearly seen: we are a singular species and one human family.

Autorenporträt
I am an educator who taught elementary school, reading, and English Language Development in public and private institutions from first grade through university. In the non-profit realm, I worked with newcomers to our nation, teaching English, American culture, and citizenship. While living and teaching on an Indian reservation, the idea for People Are Brown came to me, all at once, in a dream. People Are Brown answered the question, "How can the issue of racism be addressed?" The concept is one that changes the narrative around skin color. It's an inclusive concept that encourages inquiry and conversation, So, let's talk about racism in our homes, classrooms, country, and world. Let us eradicate racism from our hearts and minds forever.
