Early intervention assumes importance in addressing chronic stress symptoms and the studies need to be targeted at a group where corrective measures can bring about an impact. The adolescent age group is considered to be most vulnerable to stress, as these group of children are in the transition stage and has become the ideal target group for such studies. The present study verifies the marked difference level in the stress level of the children enrolled in private and government schools and also analyse the various repercussions related to stress. This piece of research has shown a very interesting field to explore the etiology of stress. It gives a more comprehensive, scientific and complete explanation for the repercussions of student stress. The findings of the study can be considered for public policy and the design of training programmes tailored to the individual needs in assisting the school students to cope with current and future stress and thereby enhance their academic performance.
