Staffing the unit is essential in ensuring maximum outcomes for both staff and clients of healthcare services. Ensuring adequate skills mix, numbers and quality of staff enable clinical leadership and positive workplace climate to promote advancement and quality healthcare. Staffing the units with adequate number of nurses has always been a challenge that managers of healthcare always battle with especially in developing countries such as Ghana. This study looked at the staffing practices of nurse managers at the unit level using the mixed method approach to give a complete picture to the phenomenon.
