Strategic planning is a process adopted by organisations with the aim of achieving pre-established goals. In other words, it is a vision of where the organisation wants to be in the future. Strategic planning therefore describes the paths, actions, resources, opportunities and risks that the organisation will face in order to achieve its goals. Strategic Business Planning (SBP) focuses on the organisation's business, while IT Strategic Planning (ITSP) focuses on IT. So, taking Brazilian technology-based companies as a backdrop, this study aims to answer what influence the IT executive's knowledge of the business and the business executive's knowledge of IT have on the organisation's strategic alignment maturity? Strategic alignment provides the organisation with parameters for analysing its current position and allows it to have a concrete vision of where it can go, showing that business decisions must be aligned with IT in order for the organisation to achieve its objectives andgoals.
