Perennial gourd cultivation is less in India. By introduction and cultivation of this vegetable, a small to moderate size farmer could possibly bring in additional income and provide a new commodity to Indian horticulture. Perennial gourds are important vegetable crops for Indian grower; however, successful production is not easily achieved. It requires highly intensive management practices, production and marketing skills, and a significant investment. These gourds are profitable crop but due to scarcity of planting materials and unused to scientific production technology the farmers of India have not yet adopted the cultivation on a commercial scale. Improved package of practices is a contributing factor to quantum increases in crop productivity and production.
