A wide range of pile breakwater systems are used to provide protection against wave attack at nearshore or offshore, and a submerged or permeable structure may provide a tranquil waters without minimizing its function as a wave attenuator. Perforated Pile Breakwater as a Wave Attenuator discusses the performance of perforated pile in attenuating waves and the different aspects of performance of various pile configurations, also includes empirical equations for each pile configurations. This enables the engineer to choose suitable pile configuration and system for a given situation. The book guides the engineer through the design process, from identifying hydraulic loading conditions and initial dimensioning of the pile to detailed design of the pile elements to ensure adequate protection against design wave conditions. The range of perforations and type of systems for the generation of alternative solutions to the problem are considered, thereby allowing comparison of different solutions during the design process. A summary of alternative systems by other researchers for easy reference is also included.
