Industrial automation plays an important role in improving the productivity of industries, and it can be achieved by introducing more number of instrumentation based automation systems. Nowadays, the automation systems in industries are implemented by employing pneumatic and electronic sensors, controllers and final control elements. These are connected by copper tubes in pneumatic systems and by using cables in electronic systems. To attain proper control over process parameters, the transmitters installed in the industrial areas send the corresponding results to the controller provided in the control console. By comparing the measured value with the set point, the corrective action will be taken to activate the final control elements. The cost of implementation of these automation systems are very high and also leads to more maintenance work. These problems can be eliminated by introducing wireless based Industrial Automation Systems (IAS).This research work presents the impactof adapting sleeping mechanisms in transmitting a physical variable from the industrial area to the controller present in the base station.
