An effective polymer modification results in a thermodynamically unstable but kinetically stable system in which polymer is partially swollen by light components of bitumen. As polymer content increases phase inversion may occur in some PMBs. Besides technical aspect, economical aspect is a huge driving force for choice of technology. The selection of appropriate paving binders duly considering the climatic and loading conditions. The scientific design of thicknesses of various pavement layers dictate serviceability of the bituminous pavements during design life. The mechanical properties of bituminous mixes depend on type, quality and quantity of binder used. Modifiers in form of polymers, natural rubber and fillers are added to virgin bitumen an attempt to improve its mechanical and thermodynamic properties. Investigations on the performance of bituminous mixeswith different modified bituminous binders will provide much needed information on longevity of modified bituminous binders over conventional bitumen under different climate and environmental conditions.
