The study identified and assessed the key performance indicators used by construction firms in Southwestern Nigeria; evaluated and compared the level of performances of construction firms and examined factors influencing the performances of construction firms in the study area. This was with a view to providing guidelines for the selection of suitable contractors in the study area. Primary data were obtained using a questionnaire survey administered on senior staff, directors or principal partners of the firms while secondary data were obtained from the archives of the construction firms in the study area. Information were collected from 93 out of the targeted 137 construction firms in the directory of Federation of Construction Industry (FOCI) and had paid their tax for three (3) consecutive years. The firms were categorized into small, medium and large scale firms based on their annual turnover. The study concluded that construction firms utilized mainly financial indicators tomeasure their business performances. The evaluation and comparison of the small, medium and large scale firms indicated that the performance of the firms improved with increase in organizational status.
