Empowered Edge: Performance Evaluation of Network Slicing at Edge Nodes in Cloud Computing book contains master's thesis which aims to show the effect of a newly emerged technology related to the fifth generation (5G) of mobile networks called network slicing. Network operators are exploring different solutions to increase the capacity of their networks so that the capability of these networks to handle the tremendous increase in mobile data traffic. Also, network operators need to support the emergence of new services as each one of these services has minimum requirements to be satisfied. Many aspects have to be considered to overcome these challenges like cost, power consumption, availability, latency, and the reliability of the deployed network. The 5G mobile networks have the potential to address all these challenges. The 5G mobile network makes full use of the deployed infrastructure by pooling the existing resources in the network by dividing the physical infrastructure into multiple virtual slices (networks) and this is the responsibility of network slicing technology.
