The best way to develop a thin oil rim reservoir is to produce the oil first by using the gas as a pressure maintenance medium. For a thin oil reservoir with a large gas cap and a big underlying aquifer, the tendencies for coning (water and gas) are very high. If there is a ready market for gas, there are practices that could be simulated which can later on be field implemented that can produce both fluids without one adversely affecting the other. This work showcased a good example on how to use the eclipse software to simulate reservoir and well completion parameters in evaluating the effects of concurrent oil and gas production as a better method of optimizing thin oil reservoirs than the normal.
