Maintenance managers must create the conditions for the implementation of complex maintenance systems, where the high availability organization is able to develop and/or apply sophisticated technologies with high degrees of success, sometimes in situations with a very low probability of failure. These are the topics addressed in this study text, which in the first part is dedicated to deliver the principles of the best maintenance concepts, a data model for operability control based on the Performance Guarantee and an analysis of the information management and knowledge retention of the maintenance team members. In the second part, the concepts of productivity and operational availability, and those aspects that can affect it, such as the human factor as the axis of change, the analysis of production capacity and the fundamentals of maintenance project planning, are discussed.
