Performance of Hampshire Pigs Under Agro-Climatic Condition of Assam During the year 1978-79, pure bred Hampshire Pigs were imported to the North Eastern Region of India for up gradation of local pigs. A study was conducted to evaluate the performance of Pure bred Hampshire pigs especially on some important of reproductive and litter traits under the tropical climatic condition of Assam. The results of the investigation revealed that the performance of Hampshire breed of pigs under the agro-climatic condition of Assam was reasonably satisfactory. However, there seems to have room for further improvement in performance by reducing preweaning mortality and increasing growth rate by way of better health cover and management.

He obtained Ph.D. in Livestock Production and Management with specialization in Swine Management from A.A.U., Assam. He also obtained International Diploma Pig Husbandry from PTC+, the Netherlands. He has 15 years of experience in Teaching and Research and presently working as Assistant Professor in C.V.Sc. & A.H., C.A.U., Aizawl, Mizoram, India.
