Performance matters. Everybody and everything is measured by performance. And performance is all about behaviour.

Do you know how you get results in your role? Are you clear on what makes a difference and what doesn’t?

Performance expert Robin Stuart-Kotze presents, in everyday language a scientific approach to behaviour change - Behaviour Kinetics – that has helped executives around the world to get ahead, and stay ahead.

So what do you need to do to really make a difference to your performance? And what do you need to do to get other people around you to improve their performance? This book is about creating continuous performance improvement – both personally and within your organisation. It’s not about a Great Leap Forward. It’s about creating a momentum for continuous, incremental improvement that moves you and/or your organisation steadily up through the field, establishing a lead and staying there!

How can you make that change? Well, things change when individuals make personal decisions about behaving differently. It’s what you do that matters, not what you are or who you are. This is the science of successful behaviour. Learning how to match your behaviour with the requirements of your job – lies at the heart of performance.

Performance will show you how to examine your current behaviour, recognising what you need to do differently, entertaining new ideas, and consciously changing your behaviour to meet the changing requirements of your job. In everyday language this book presents a proven approach to behaviour change called Behaviour Kinetics: a simple 7-step process that gives you all the tools you need to measure and manage your performance.

We all do hundreds of different things at work each day, but which ones really make a difference? And if you’re managing other people, how do you improve their performance?

Behaviour is what drives performance. Personality is not the issue. Definitive scientific research shows that less than 10% of the variance in a person’s behaviour is explained by personality.

Behaviour is the actions you take and the decisions you make. You can control these things; you can decide what to do and when to do it. You can see these things, and you can measure them. And because you can decide what to do in any situation you can determine, control and most importantly, improve, your performance. In fact, performance is all about doing the right thing at the right time.

This incisive book shows you how to look critically at your current behaviour, recognise what you need to do differently and how to consciously improve your behaviour to meet the changing requirements of your job with top-level performance:

Recognise the actions that accelerate performance – and do more of them.

Learn to identify performance blocking behaviour – and stop it.

Accept that the people who best know how to enhance performance are those doing the job – and ask them, don’t tell them about improvements.

These are the secrets of successful behaviour, and this is Behaviour Kinetics. The difference starts here.
