As a response to this huge demand, the government is implementing expropriation of land from the immediate peri-urban zone and this is resulting in the transformation of immediate peri-urban tenure and use. As a result of this, dispossession of land holders (poor farmers) and tenure transformation from life long use right to leasehold is the typical characteristic of the peri-urban areas in Ethiopia.Therefore, in this book the writer tries to show the impacts of expropriation and tenure transformation on the livelihoods of the dispossessed farmers in the peri-urban areas. The output of this research paper is expected to be utilized by researchers,academicians,land managers and policy makers.
