This book describes a new method for hand vein recognition using biometrics, which is a method of recognizing a person based on their physiological or behavioral traits. The study focuses on using hand veins as a biometric trait because they are unique, stable, permanent, and universal for every individual and difficult to forge. The major challenge in developing a vein pattern-based authentication system is the quality of image and versatility of vein pattern. The proposed method, Rider Cat-based Chicken Swarm Optimization (RCCSO), is designed by integrating Chicken Swarm Optimization and Cat Swarm Optimization in Rider Optimization Algorithm (ROA) and is used for classification of hand veins. Results show that the proposed RCCSO-based method provided high accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity, and low error rates. The findings indicate that the vein-based biometric system is a promising form of biometric identification.
