The protection of personal data is no longer anonymous in Niger. It is at the heart of the national agenda. Indeed, in line with its international commitments, the State of Niger has recognized the need to invest fully in this area. To this end, it passed its first law in 2017, which was amended in 2019, 2022 and 2023. These successive reforms have introduced new legal and regulatory frameworks that are not yet fully understood by citizens. Hence our ambition to disclose the new law governing this new subject through this publication. The content of this book is a summary of Niger's legislation on the protection of personal data, which is made up not only of national but also Community and international texts. It highlights the legal, institutional and normative framework of protection, and provides a general analysis of the African institutional model of protection enshrined in African texts.
