An assessment of personal exposure to Benzene and PAHs among the street vendors in different traffic congested areas of Bangkok was conducted in the winter of 2003. The study revealed that those grilling meats to sale in the roadsides had the highest level of exposure to both the compounds compared to those selling clothes or articles which do not by itself emit such compounds. Further, the levels of exposure to these compounds among the studied occupational groups was found to be the function of the proximity to the roads and the vehicular density.
