Turkey has abandoned import substituting accumulation model since the late 1970s and has entered into a structural formation process by courtesy of adopted neoliberal policies as from 1980s. Globalization gained momentum after 1980 and Turkey has witnessed significance changes in economic and political terms in the relevant period.
This book focuses certain developments in Turkey's economy and public administration since the 1980s. In economical aspect; conversion in agriculture, supply of particular goods, international trade, external debts, macroeconomic vulnerabilities and development strategies are examined. In the context of public administration; changes in urban culture, slow city movement, the concept of smart city, foreigners' freedom to work in Turkey under international labour force law, modernization of the education system and its impact on youth employment and environmental policy are investigated.
I¿¿l Alkan is Assistant Professor in Department of Economics of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Ondokuz May¿s University. She holds B.A. from Economics (Gazi University), M.A. from Agricultural Economics (Ondokuz May¿s University) and Ph. D. from Economics (Gazi University). She has teaching and research experience in the area of Economy Policy, Agricultural Economics and Gender Economics. She has several manuscripts, conference papers and book chapters in the stated fields. She is also the author of the book; Female Labour in Agriculture Sector (Gazi Bookstore, 2018). Asl¿ Yönten Balaban is Assistant Professor in Department of Political Science and Public Administration of Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Ondokuz May¿s University. She holds B.A. from Public Administration (Dokuz Eylül University), M.A. from Public Administration (Dokuz Eylül University) and Ph. D. from Public Administration (Dokuz Eylül University). She has teaching and research experience in the area of local authorities, urbanization and climate change. She has several manuscripts, conference papers and book chapters in the stated fields. She is also the author of the book; Dam Management in Turkey and Strategical Approaches (Birle¿ik Bookstore, 2015)
