This work is concerned with the determination of blood parameters, enzyme levels, blood chemistry and pesticide residues in the blood samples from different divisions of Sindh and from different farm field of rural areas of Sindh in comparison with unexposed persons (control). Total 177 blood samples from 59 persons (exposed to pesticide) were collected, to assay the pesticide residues in their blood and also observed the biochemical and hematological changes in the blood of affected persons. Such work has not been done on this aspect. So this is the first comprehensive work on this aspect. The main purpose of this study was to find the health risk due to pesticide exposure in the farm workers of different divisions of Sindh. Safety or minimum health risk is of prime importance for human beings. On the basis of this work farm workers had been advised to stop spraying for atleast 1-2 years or use of much less hazardous pesticides or alternate control practices, so that their health may improve and thus the importance of this work has been proved on the basis of experimental data. This information is useful for farm workers, students of agriculture and researchers in this field.
