Middlebrook (born in Lincoln, U.K., 15 November 1965) is an English political economist/Political Scientist specialising in emerging markets and the development of Transition economies. He is best known for his work as an economic advisor to governments in Africa, Central and South Asia, as well as OECD countries. He specialises in the political economy of public and private investment in Central Asia, South Asia and the Horn of Africa with a particular focus on investment finance, Public-Private Partnership, the privatisation and transformation of national economies and productive infrastructure and other public goods. He originated the concept and framework for right-financing as a practical tool to guide both private and public investment.
