As the drug therapy is becoming more complex, the challenge of prescribing appropriate medication is increasing. In clinical settings, a wide range of MRPs might arise due to various causes. Although many studies have detailed the MRPs and their consequences, only few published studies assessed the impact of clinical pharmacist-initiated changes to drug therapy. The work described assessed and quantified the pharmacist-initiated changes to drug therapy and their impact on cost savings. The results of the study would shed some vital data on medication related problems and the impact ofpharmacist-initiated changes to drug therapy on cost savings, and should be of interest and useful to researchers and professionals in healthcare settings especially the pharmacists.

Dr. MADHAN RAMESH serves as Professor to JSS University, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysore. He received five awards in recognition of his research work. He authored for three chapters in ¿A Textbook of Clinical Pharmacy Practice-Essential Concepts & Skills¿. He held several posts, and he is member of UG Board of Studies in Pharmacy, JSS University.
