This study presents a preliminary investigation into the phytochemical composition and pharmacological potential of two medicinal plants, Michelia nilagirica and Indigofera barberi. Phytochemical screening was conducted to identify the presence of bioactive compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, glycosides, saponins, phenolic compounds, and terpenoids in the plant extracts. These compounds hold significance due to their potential health-promoting properties. Furthermore, the pharmacological screening included assessments of antioxidant, hepatoprotective, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer, anti-depressant activities. The findings from this preliminary investigation provide valuable insights into the phytochemical profile and pharmacological activities of Michelia nilagirica and Indigofera barberi, setting the stage for further in-depth research and potential utilization of these plants for medicinal purposes. These natural resources may hold promising bioactive compounds that could contribute to the development of novel therapeutic agents in the future.
