This study was carried out as entomological surveys at White Nile and Khartoum States during April-July 2011. The study was conducted to investigate the fauna, abundance and distribution of sand flies in the two areas. Sand flies were collected using CDC miniature light traps and sticky paper traps. In addition, female of Phlebotomus sand flies were dissected for Leishmania parasite and to determine parous rates in the White Nile state. Fourteen species of sand flies were recorded: six Phlebotomus sand flies and eight Sergentomyia species. No Leishmania parasites were detected in sand flies in the area.
