Understanding the phobias of small entrepreneurs is critical to explaining the strategies they use. The study highlighted three systemic phobias of entrepreneurial culture: competition phobia, growth phobia and state phobia. These phobias form the model of competitive behavior of Russian small businesses. The cultural pattern typical for a significant part of entrepreneurs can be described as a "shell" pattern. A "shell" does not plan its own activities and does not develop its own company, preferring to invest better in the creation of a new micro-business in another industry.
