ATP is a key molecule in cellular metabolism. In this work, there are examined the effects of several visible and and near-infrared laser light wavelengths on ATP, which are non-resonant for the molecule. It is described the biochemical behavior of irradiated ATP in cellular reactions in which ATP is a substrate, resulting in alteration of the kinetics of the studied reactions in a wavelength and and dose dependent process. When exciting ATP with UV photons, it fluoresces, and the fluorescence intensity decreases when Mg2+ is added. Irradiating the ATP-Mg2+ solution with non-resonant light increases the fluorescence emission. The refraction of light in an ATP solution is studied by the Michelson interferometer and by directly measuring the refractive index. The refractive index changes after non-resonant wavelengths irradiation of the ATP solution. The interaction mechanism described in this work may be of importance when cells and tissues are light- exposed at the correct parameters.
