This work submitted for the first time, a novel type of magnetic-field sensor based on the Whispering Gallery Modes (WGMs) excited in a cylindrical microresonator formed by a section PCF infiltrated with a magnetic fluid. Perturbation of the refractive index of the magnetic fluid under the influence of the applied magnetic field results in the spectral shift of the WGM resonances detectable in the transmission spectrum of the tapered fiber with micro and nano diameter positioned perpendicularly to the PCF microresonator. The value of the applied magnetic field is related to the WGM spectral shift. The microresonator fibers are infiltrated with two types of magnetic fluids; ferrofluid contained 5, and 10-nm diameter water soluble iron oxide magnetic nano-particles (Fe3O4), and also for the first time the ferronematic liquid crystal which is it a nematic liquid crystal (6CHBT) doped with different shape of iron oxide nano-particle (Fe3O4) spherical and rod like.
