The concept of photonic crystals, which involves periodically arranged dielectrics that form a new type of material having novel photonic properties, was first proposed about two decades ago. Since then, a number of applications in photonic technology have been explored. Specifically, organic and hybrid photonic crystals are promising because of the unique advantages of the organic materials. In this dissertation, I will discuss 1D and 2D organic photonic crystals with active materials.

Autorenporträt
PhD, Case Western Reserve University Research field covers molecular non-linearity measurements (hyper-Rayleigh scattering, Z-scan, etc), developing photonic devices that base on organic photonic crystals, and random transfer matrix theory. Demonstrated the world-first all-plastic laser that can be massively made by roll-to-roll method.
