The goal of this research is to fabricate a highly reactive photocatalyst composed of titanium dioxide (TiO2) and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and to apply TiO2 photocatalysis in a rotating filtration system for water purification. By incorporating CNTs into the photocatalyst, we have obtained enhanced photo- reactivity of the TiO2. The improvement of the reactivity of TiO2 by creating a composite with CNTs also provides a better understanding of the fundamental mechanism of TiO2 photocatalysis. These photocatalytic effects of TiO2 have potential to reduce biofouling in the rotating filtration process.
