Depression and mental health in elderly females with sedentary lifestyle was found to be significantly associated with each other. Depression in elderly females engaged in regular physical activity was found to be significantly lower as compared to elderly females with a sedentary lifestyle. Elderly females engaged in regular physical activity exhibited significantly more magnitude of mental health as compared to elderly females with a sedentary lifestyle. In a developing country like India the health care facility for elderly people is not enough hence thought process was going on for years to curb mental health and depression in the geriatric population through some alternative mode. In this relation the role of physical activity incontrolling and eliminating mental health and depression related issues have also been studied among geriatric population, but the results are inconsistent.
