Legg-Calvé-Perthes disease (LCPD) began to be studied 100 years ago with the advent of image studies. Nonetheless, even today, many questions regarding the disease remain. The scientific literature is extensive regarding descriptions of surgical procedures. As for the role of physiotherapy, there are few descriptions about when and how it should be done. Thus, this book aims to describe and clearly detail the general characteristics of patients with LCPD and how to perform physiotherapy with these patients. It also seeks to illustrate a proposed protocol for physical therapy and its results through a prospective controlled study conducted on patients at the initial stage of the disease. The methodology used for this study is described, and illustrations of the proposed treatment are presented, as are the evaluations and the clinical results obtained. These results are compared with data from the literature in a discussion and help generate the conclusions of the research. This book seeks to help and guide healthcare professionals in treating this disease, as an alternative option, and to guide physiotherapists regarding the role of physiotherapy in LCPD.
