Rhynchotechum ellipticum belongs to the family Gesneriaceae and it is somewhat uncommon to use in the ethnomedical practices. It is available in Chittagong and Sylhet in Bangladesh. Traditionally it is used to reduce the cough of a child. The objective of this study to explore and evaluate the phytochemicals, cytotoxic, antidiarrhoeal, antimicrobial, analgesic and thrombolytic activities to provide a suitable lead, which may be utilize in future to peruse a new line of research, based on the combined approach of both exploitation and exploration. Further studies were needed to find possible active ingredients and modes of action.
