"Pietism and Modern Times" began as a series of yearbooks in 1974 on behalf of the Historical Commission for the Study of Pietism. It offers an international and interdisciplinary spectrum of research contributions from comparative cultural science on the history of modern Protestantism, in particular on pietism in the context of the European pietistic movement since Early Modern Times. In addition to contributions on theological, pietistic and church historical themes, one also finds articles from general history (especially social and institutional history), music, literary science as well as the history of medicine and pedagogics. Each volume contains a number of book reviews and a comprehensive bibliography (ca. 350 entries) of new literature. The articles, reviews and bibliography are complemented by extensive indices of persons and places mentioned.
