Piezosurgery device (Mectron, Carasco, Italy) proposed by Vercellotti in 1998. Piezosurgery is a relatively new technique for osteotomy and osteoplasty that utilizes ultrasonic vibrations and uses a frequency of 25-30 kHz. The piezosurgery device is essentially an ultrasound machine with modulated frequency and a controlled tip vibration range. The piezosurgical device provides extreme precision on micrometric cutting, safety, as well as great control on the surgical site and the unit, allowing one to selectively section the mineralized bone structures. Piezosurgery (PS) uses piezoelectric ultrasonic vibrations to perform precise and safe osteotomies. This book is a literature review on the use of "piezosurgery in periodontology and implantology." Piezosurgery device is a sophisticated ultrasonic device, that has a variety of applications in dentistry.
