These seventeen stories capture the moments when men, women, and children try to make sense of their lives when faced with their own mortality or that of their loved ones. Their complex responses-their sadness, humor, determination, confusion, anger, and hope-reflect some of the richness of human lives. Ranging from a few pages in length to a long, life-spanning letter, the stories explore our shared pilgrimage through life.
