Sheldrake A proud African native who loves street boxing has his life fall apart after his parents are killed in South Ciskei. The death of his parents occurs while working for the white supremacist and wealthiest Mayor during the apartheid rule. Despite the racial segregation at that time and opposition from the Mayor's family, he still becomes best friends with Abednego, the Mayor's son, who shares his similar passion for boxing. He, however, separates from his best friend after the death of his mother. Still, he dreams of reuniting one day, becoming a respected professional boxer, and providing the best gift: western education for his sister, which was his mother's dream, for her to gain respect in the community. Abednego Meanwhile, Abednego later becomes England's world's greatest boxer and sexiest symbol years after separating from Sheldrake. His fame inadvertently makes him start becoming like his father, a proud, vain Casanova who gets into a loveless marriage for monetary benefits. However, he is not satisfied with his life in England. He misses this past life and his only genuine friendship in South Ciskei. He retires from boxing and moves to Nigeria to recruit young African boxers for his charity. Abednego accidentally discovers Sheldrake in a restaurant in Lagos. They reunite, and he makes Sheldrake the greatest fighter in Africa. Martha She is a naïve, insecure teenager who has been secretly in love with Abednego since childhood. She distastes the fact that he perceives her as a child and family. Loneliness and the scandalous women surrounding Abednego's life fuel her anger and instigate her sudden rebellion from her academics and timid ways. She gets into bad company to become a desirable woman for Abednego.
