Brian D. Williams was born in Kingstown, St. Vincent. He's the first son of his father Edgar Reid, and the second and only son of his mother Carmina Williams. The author's life wasn't always that appealing, though his past brought him lots of imagination. B.D. Williams spent half of his early childhood days in a small village well known as Frenches. Meanwhile he was growing up with his father, they later moved into another beautiful city known as Buccament Bay. In Buccament Bay he attended Primary school and Layou Secondary School. Most of Brian's education came from his hometown of St. Vincent. Where Brian grew up the sea was approximately two blocks from his home. The rivers and lakes and knolls were even closer than the sea. As a kid, he did much river fishing, and later fished around high seawaters. All that adventure eventually opened his mind, as to how fishermen were making an honest living, going out on fishing boats, using coiling lines, anchor and nettings to capture fishes. Fishing was something B.D. Williams admired very much. But through certain circumstances, he had left his father's home at a much younger age than most kids normally do. At one point, his abusive life while living around his father became much too harsh. B.D. Williams choose to become a streetwise kid. For several years, he was known as the boy living here and there, living on wits and a little knowledge. He had seen it all- cocaine, heroine, marijuana, guns, kids older and younger than him throwing away their lives carelessly. Though as a streetwise kid, B.D. Williams had kept his mind opened and focused knowing he could beat the odds. And he wasn't afraid to struggle for what he believed was rightfully his. In 1997, B.D. Williams came to Canada to live with his mother in Montreal. He was seventeen years old. In time he began to write short stories and launched his first web site www.brianshortstories.org which is now www.kingatsea.com. B.D. Williams also wrote his own biographical book, based on him and his family. And in the year 2000, he wrote another story which he dedicated to the Canadian Cancer Society, that has not yet been published. Excerpt Chelsea was a small, skinny boy from Hassea, a small well-known village in Grand Bahama. He was only seven years old when he had a dream about the sea- a dream that would change his life forever. What was Chelsea thinking? What made him think he could create a brighter future by living around the sea? He was an intelligent kid. Why didn't he want to become a doctor or a lawyer-something other than being a fisherman? Some people preferred being on land, but fishing was Chelsea's dream. From the day he was born, he had always wanted to be a great fisherman. He even dreamed about what type of fish would make him successful! ""Ah ha, oh goodie, never stopped dreaming of how great he could be, if he could only have a chance to be on the Sea. Lord, how great life would be!" Chelsea's mother, Margaret always complained about Chelsea's dream. She thought it was a lousy dream. Could his mother be right? Perhaps. Chelsea never paid too much attention to his mother. In fact, Margaret's accusations would go through one ear and out the other. The only thing that Chelsea understood was her warning that being a fisherman wasn't easy. But Chelsea would later find that out for himself. Chelsea Oxford used to wonder why his mother had given him such a strange name spelled with 'sea.' He felt he was one of the Kings of the Sea. Born and raised in the Bahamas, he always imagined what life would be like being a fisherman. He had always wanted to fish using coiling lines, an anchor, and harpoons.
