Four passengers died of bullet wounds or as a result of the crash. The cargo included diamonds worth an estimated A Pds. 150,000-300,000 (now an approximate A$20-40 million). The majority of these diamonds were lost or stolen following the crash. Their fate remains an officially unsolved mystery.
