Therefore, population pressure compels for cultivation, while most of the hillside areas exceed recommended slopes for cultivation. By consequence, during the rainy season, down-slopes areas are subjected to seasonal flooding and hillsides are subjected to soil erosion. During sunny season hillside region and wetland are subjected to drought. Therefore, to sustain the agriculture on such hillside areas, research on planning and designing for irrigation channels and land husbandry work has been conducted. This research helps the community in many ways like provision of erosion control measures, providing irrigation water for farming during the dry season and providing flood control measures in the rainy season. This book includes the planning and designing of different irrigation channels and their construction details. It includes the computation of irrigation efficiency of the systems in the site 34. It also includes the planning and proposed execution of the flood control system by making terraces construction.
