Historical examples of destructive plant disease epidemics include three American tragedies: American chestnut blight, Dutch elm disease and butternut canker. Along with these three diseases some other diseases like palm lethal yellowing, oak wilt, cypress canker and Xylella outbreak caused severe epidemic.

M. Sc. (Agri.) and Ph. D. NET (ICAR) in the discipline Plant Pathology. She is the recipient of Senior Research Fellowship - 2009 from Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, India. She did her doctorate degree from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Presently she is working in U. P. Council of Sugarcane Research.
