This treatise has evaluated both the physiology and bio-chemistry of submergence tolerance as well as intolerance of rice cultivars with different root responses. Rishikesh Upadhyay (R.K.Upadhyay), an alumnus of Gauhati and Assam Universities, did his M.Sc in Life Science (Botany); M.Phil & PhD in Plant Stress Physiology and Biochemistry, and has a number of research papers in leading International Journals. He was recently awarded PhD by Assam University where he had also taught PG students during 2006-08.
