This book reviews some recent advances in a novel class of optoelectronics devices based on plasmonic nanoparticles-semiconductor nanowire hybrid nanostrucutres. The interest in such a new flourishing field derives from the miniaturized, tunable and integrated capabilities offered by these one-dimensional hybrid structures, that open up unprecedented scenario towards high-performance nanodevices. The first part of the book reviews the properties of metal nanostructures, with particular emphasis in explaining the plasmonic processes that can be used to expand the capabilities of semiconductor…mehr

Produktbeschreibung
This book reviews some recent advances in a novel class of optoelectronics devices based on plasmonic nanoparticles-semiconductor nanowire hybrid nanostrucutres. The interest in such a new flourishing field derives from the miniaturized, tunable and integrated capabilities offered by these one-dimensional hybrid structures, that open up unprecedented scenario towards high-performance nanodevices. The first part of the book reviews the properties of metal nanostructures, with particular emphasis in explaining the plasmonic processes that can be used to expand the capabilities of semiconductor nanowires. In the second part, fabrication techniques and superior performances of devices based on hybrid nanostructures are discussed, providing a comprehensive overview of an expanding field with a large potential impact on future technology.
Autorenporträt
Andrea Pescaglini received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Physics from the University of Pisa in 2007 and 2010, respectively. In 2010 he was awarded a Marie Curie Early Stage Researcher and he obtained his PhD degree in 2014. His research interest covers studies on semiconductor nanostructures and nanoplasmonics for optoelectronic applications.
