Ashley Lee a commencé sa carrière dans l'édition grâce au programme de Master en Édition de l'Université Simon Fraser. Elle détient un certificat d'Aide aux Soins des Animaux de l'Université de l'Île de Vancouver, ce qui lui a permis de combiner son amour pour les animaux et l'écriture lorsqu'elle a travaillé pour les magazines Modern Dog et Modern Cat.
