Platelets play an important action in haemostasis and healing of wound. They have gained enormous popularity in the field of regenerative dentistry. Earlier fibrin glue was set in motion as a sealant, followed by the introduction of platelet-rich plasma (PRP); first generation of platelet concentrates which was put into use in fields of Dermatology, chronic ulcer management and also in aesthetics. Choukroun et al in France in 2000's introduced the second generation of platelet concentrates (PRF) Platelet Rich Fibrin. Several advantages of PRF have been noticed over traditionally prepared PRP. In this book we will be focusing the importance of Platelet Concentrates in healing and regeneration and will be discussing the expedition of fibrin glue from PRP to PRF, i-PRF, t-PRF, L-PRF etc.
