Studies conducted in canine model have shown that during sepsis mean platelet volume (MPV) and platelet distribution width (PDW) increases whereas platelet count and plateletcrit decreases. We hypothesized that ratios of MPV, PDW, platelet count and plateletcrit could be predictors of pediatric mortality.
