From its first publication in 1917, Juan Ramón Jiménez turned his Silversmith - the donkey that walked the poet in the afternoons of Moguer - into a legendary figure as popular as Alicia or the Little Prince. With an exquisite and at the same time simple language, full of beautiful images and full of melancholy, the poet, sometimes in dialogue with Platero and others in his company, tells us about the beauty of the environment and its relationship with all things. Without a doubt, Platero has dazzled generations of readers.

Autorenporträt
Juan Ramón Jiménez Mantecón is a Spanish poet and winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1956, for the whole of his work, the lyrical narration Platero y yo being designated as its outstanding work. Although by age he belongs to the Novecentismo or Generation of 14, he maintained a close relationship with the previous generations (Modernism, which influenced his first stage) and later (Generation of 27, which he supported at least in his first works -although later he attacked them - and of which he was one of the main models, as well as a reference for some of the avant-garde authors). He sought to know the truth, as a way to achieve eternity and accuracy for him was beauty, considering poetry as a source of knowledge to grasp things.
