A number of platinum(II) and palladium(II) coordination complexes bearing PTA and DAPTA ligands have been synthesized. These complexes have been characterized by means of a variety of techniques including NMR and IR spectroscopy, Mass spectrometry, elemental analysis, and X-ray crystallography. The catalytic activity of these complexes was investigated in hydrosilylation reaction and cross-coupling reaction. Some of these complexes were found to possess an excellent catalytic activity in these reactions in terms of the yield and selectivity of the products with low catalyst loading. The reactions occurred with minimal side reactions and undesired byproducts. The synthesized complexes are found to be water-soluble and mostly air- and moisture-stable. The complexes are also soluble in polar organic solvents and can be utilized in biphasic catalytic reactions that enables to recycle the catalyst more efficiently. Some of the complexes are also cisplatin analogue and have potential cytotoxic activity.
