This research is a study into playfulness in the teaching of mathematics with the aim of analyzing the importance of playfulness as a tool to be applied in the subject of mathematics in the 6th grade of elementary school II at the José Mota State School. In order to stimulate critical and creative thinking, the ability to solve problems and develop logical reasoning. The main objective was to find out how school teaching activities relate to those of a playful nature, linking the two dimensions of being in the teaching/learning process and taking into account the students' social reality. Thus, the possibility of relating school content to everyday knowledge was observed, and the aim of this research was to induce students to have access to information on the subject, bringing the new to the school environment. On the basis of this knowledge built up, they can learn mathematics in a playful way, using activities to be tackled in the classroom in order to deepen their knowledge and make the content more dynamic.

The author has a degree in Mathematics from the Amazonas State University. She has experience in Mathematics, with an emphasis on Mathematics; a postgraduate degree in Municipal Public Management from the Federal University of Amazonas; and a master's degree in Education Sciences from the University for the Integration of the Americas. She is a permanent state teacher.
