About the Book Though India is predominantly still a country of Ageing, not much progress has been made in this study of elderly people, their problems and living conditions. It is shared that Gerontology is not being taught as a compulsory paper in M.A.Sociology in so many Universities in India. It is now time that Indian Sociologist look to aged population to make the subject useful for Indian Society. If the present work could serve to create interest in Social Gerontology among the Students and Teachers of Sociology while the matter for the book has been gathered from standard books and journals and Newspaper, data have been selected from government publication, India and other such sources. The matter has been presented in an analytical and comparative style using central, side and running headings to make the subject.
