In Plundered by Lobsters, the first collection of poems from West Country writer and translator Gordon Vells, micropoetry rubs shoulders with longer pieces, revealing a fascination with the natural world, the miracle of writing, the perception of colour, and (mystifyingly) anvils. Vells' poems also explore his complicated relationship with technology, and at times are shot through with bone-dry humour. What this all has to do with lobsters will no doubt become clear in due course.
